Formula 1 Has A Month Off: Here’s What You Can do to Pass the Time
Because we don’t know what to do without a race weekend!
The 2026 F1 season has started its engines, but the cars won’t be on track for the entire month of April. Because of the unexpected break from the sport, we have the perfect ideas for how to pass the time until its lights out once again in Miami.
The only thing better than watching all 22 drivers race on Sunday is seeing the star-studded crowd that shows out. With races all over the world, many famous celebrities and familiar faces have been spotted, with some even getting the honor to wave the chequered flag at the finish line.
Most recently in Japan, Jack Black had the opportunity as Kimi Antonelli won his second race in F1, putting him at the top of the Driver’s standings. Just last year, Blackpink’s own Rosé waved the flag at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, and we’ll be anxiously waiting for who will be next in May.
There have been sports crossovers as well, with Serena Williams getting to wave the famous black-and-white flag at the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix. It’s one thing to get the special honor, but it’s another to get to do it in the historic country of Monaco.
We’ve talked a lot about the Marvel and F1 collaborations, and everyone’s favorite neighbor Tom Holland had the honors to wave the flag in-person at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix during Max Verstappen’s historic season. So far, Holland is the only actor in the franchise to have been given the honorary role, but there’s always room for more.
The possibilities are endless for the next star-studded flag wavers to appear in future races, and even making a bingo card could be a fun activity during the waiting period. If crafts aren’t your thing, we’ve made one you can use!
Speaking of the chequered flag, fans from all over have the opportunity to own a piece of one from any race during the season. On Formula 1’s official website, fans may purchase a square from the official flag that will appear on track with their name on it. After the race, the piece will be sent to them personally.
This year, the design is new, with an acrylic display with their personalized square along with a photograph of the race winner crossing the finish line from official F1 photographers. All races throughout the season are available for purchase, and what better way to honor a special race than to own a piece of it?

Nothing is better than seeing the races in person, and during this waiting period, being well prepared is the best method. The action on track is the most important part of the race weekend, but it doesn’t mean you can’t look good while watching.
Formula 1 fans have shown up in their best-dressed, with some fantastic looks making its way from the paddock to the grandstands. While you’re waiting for that special day, making a pinterest board is the perfect activity to plan out outfits for race weekend.
Motorsports photographer Kym Illman even has a series highlighting the Women of the Paddock, showcasing not only women in their racing-inspired attire, but also those behind the scenes that help put on the sport we all love.
While you’re planning, curating outfits by thrifting, buying official merch, or even designing something yourself is a fun craft on its own. If the team kits aren’t your style, there are multiple brands that sell inspired clothing to bring your vision to life.
Since there’s a whole month to wait, you can bring the party straight to your own home for Miami. If you can’t be there in person, hosting a Miami race weekend-themed party is the perfect way to get amped up for the season ahead and celebrate the sport finally making its return after the break.
Themed food and drink, racing decorations, something to watch the race on, and all your friends is all you need to throw the perfect Formula 1 watch party. You can go all out, or keep it simple, as long as you’re getting to enjoy the race in whatever way works for you.
It’s a long wait for fans to get to be in the action once again, but we hope these fun activities and side quests will help cure the Formula 1 filled hole in your hear this month.
